CPC-Hypocrisy: ‘If Abacha Murdered Kudirat In Cold Blood, Buhari Pretended Not To Know, Curiously CPC-Supporters Say Hang Al-Mustapha’–Reports
New York [RR] ABUJA–According to respected international and Nigerian commentator Dominic Ogbonna following Court order that former Security Chief to dictatorial Abacha military regime, Al-Mustapha sentenced to dead by hanging, asked: “What does Buhari think about the ruling and much more”. In his words: “What Does Buhari think of the recent judgment on Al-Mustapha??Republic Reporters gathered.

He added: “Judging from the responses on the Hausa-Fulani listservs, it appears the majority of the Northerners are opposed to the judgment. Does anyone here know if General Buhari also shares this opinion? We have to ask, because Buhari threw all of his considerable weight behind the very people who stole Abiola’s electoral victory. If Abacha was in power courtesy of daylight electoral theft, Buhari pretended not to know. If Abacha hanged Ken Saro-Wiwa, Buhari pretended not to know. If Abacha’s Government was an international pariah, Buhari pretended not to know. If Abacha had imprisoned the winner of the election, Buhari pretended not to know. If Abacha murdered Kudirat in cold blood, Buhari pretended not to know. While people like Wole Soyinka and Athur Nwankwo were working round-the-clock to retrieve our nation back from the hands of murderers, Buhari pretended not to see or hear any of the deadly stuff happening all around him. Instead, he studiously hid his face behind petro-dollars. Which leads me to ask: at what point does a TRULY decent man dissociate himself from murderers and thieves? At what point can we distinguish decency from the sheer love of power? And when will Buhari and IBB start an open campaign against Boko Haram? Surely, as statesmen who are paid and pampered from the public purse; as influential leaders of thought in Northern Nigeria, there must be something that these ex-Presidents can do to help restore sanity? How about a public campaign to galvanize public opinion against these senseless murders? If Obasanjo all the way from the South-West can try to mediate, why is General Buhari and IBB pretending not to know what is going on around them? Why are they not speaking up? Are they only patriots during election time? Is it just about the power? Might this be the reason why Kudirat’s death had no significance for folks Buhari -as long as they remained in the corridors of power?Na wa ooo!, Dominic exclaimed.
Reactions to this commentary were swift and mixed.
Adebayo Adejuwon: “It will take a moron like Dominic Ogbonna not to be bothered about what a sitting president think of Boko Haram and how to combat BH. One has to be a confused mind no to be bothered about what GEJ the most incompetent and clueless and yet most profligate president ever produced in the annals of Nigeria democratic history wants to do to protect the lives of the citizens of Nigeria aga against BH. And when you add these to the foolishness of people like Dominic Ogbonna reducing the pronouncements of a court of competent juridisction in a murder case on what A or B thinks about it is it not obvious that Nigeria is seriously in a crisis?
“Al Mustapha has been sentenced by a court of competent jurisdiction in a case where he has been found guilty. Rather than these empty headed human beings such as Asari Dukubo, Dominic Ogbonna and Femi Fani-Kayode( a lawyer I suppose) asking Al Mustapha to appeal this judgment they are out therefore insulting Nigerians.
‘Nonsense..
Peter Opara: “I just have to report that I laughed through the drivel, below…sheer drivel…
Dominic Ogbonna: “Chief Adebayo Adejuwon: (a.) But you are against electoral theft. Abiola won the 1992 elections hands-down. And Abacha and his gang stole the 1992 election in broad daylight. Do you not find it curious that Buhari did not bat an eyelid over that electoral heist? Instead, he happily joined the cabal that stole the elections and murdered the man and his wife! Am I missing something here? Is there some kind of special defense for the violation of June 12? Or is there some kind of a special exception General Buhari? I am asking because, people like Mbakwe and Jakande paid a considerable price for throwing their weight behind Abacha.
(b.) Do you NOT find it odd that Buhari did not bat an eyelid while Mustapha and his gang were running riot -even as folks like Wole Soyinka were tip-toeing from London to New York in defense of their fatherland?
(c.) But do you not find it odd that ex-President Obasanjo travelled all the way from Ota to help mediate the Boko Haram menace, whereas ex-Presidents IBB and Buhari are keeping completely mute? Is there nothing these ex-presidents can do to help mediate peace in their own neighborhood? Would it not be nice if Buhari could use his famous influence to help restore peace and sanity in these communities? I thought he was so eager to serve the Nigerian people? Or that passion only lasts when there is an election on the horizon?
“These are uncomfortable questions, but we must continue to ask them.
Kunle Adegboye: “Dominic:You can see from the statements attributed to the Arewa Consultative group of which Buhari is a member that many of those Northern leaders clamoring for Al-Mustapha to be given State pardon give tacit support to Boko Haram. Many of these so-called leaders (and they abound in the Southwest, Southeast, South-south) are only after THEIR own interests.
Peter Opara: “So, Kunle, you know what “Buhari think” relative to the silly inquiry? And you know Buhari to know what he thinks. You are in his mind right now or at the time of that judgment to know what he thinks. And what you think yourself matters not to you, but what another person thinks. Do you have mind of your own, and so the rest of you on this inane, silly track. Kunle, are you also among all them defenders of thieves and crooks now in government… among those who deflect for them and propagate them? Just think that your patrimony is looted daily by those you drum for, and you are here busy, with your mind hooked on what some other person thinks of judgment by the courts. Again, do you head, mind or brain. What do you think? Answer that question for your sake and go have some rest…When will Nigerians like you stop being silly?
