Last GM Business-Card Of Late Comrade Chidi Nwosu, At Abia Rubber Company, Ltd–RepublicReport
New York [RR] UMUAHIA–As freedom fighters and human rights community in Nigeria and beyond mourn the assassination of the foremost Human Rights activist/Leader and President Human Right For Justice and Peace, Foundation [ HRJPF] Comrade Chidi Nwosu, more revelations are beginning to emerge about his cowardly and dastard assassination.
RepublicReport can affirmatively report that we are in possession of late Comrade Chidi Nwosu’s last General-Manager’s business identification Card at Abia Rubber Company, Ltd, before he got assassinated by politically motivated hired assassins, yet to be identified.
On November 20, 2010 RepublicReport got a call from late Comrade Chidi Nwosu to visit him at his Umuahia Office, instead of Abuja as he disclosed to RepublicReport while he visited United States, for Human Rights Summit.
RR became suspicious, because RR discussed Abuja location with comrade Nwosu, not Umuahia, Abia State, Capital.
Nonetheless, after thinking through it, RR agreed and visited Nwosu’s office located at 68 Bende Rd, but questioned his intentions.
Late Mr. Nwosu, retorted in his usual confidence, energetic self and acclaimed: “I have moved from Abuja to Umuahia, we work for OCHENDO”, referring to Gov. TA Orji [TA's Igbo Chieftaincy title], of Abia State.
“I have been appointment the (Commissioner) General Manager, Abia State Government Of Nigeria, Abia Rubber Company Ltd. The Office of ARC, was located at 68 Bende Road, P.M.B. 7070, Umuahia, Phone: 068-221-065, 082-446-337 & his personal phone number 0803-505-6312.
RR was uncomfortable with the first Umuahia’s visit considering the location, security, etc.
Obviously, considering the chaotic climate in Abia State and across the landscape, killings, kidnapping, and having compromised Police headquarters in Bende Rd, heightened the tension, we became rightly or wrongly livid.
RR has no trust in Nigeria Police Force [NPF] with all the killings and kidnappings going on today, with some members-of-NPF evidently collaborators in many of these heinous crimes. At least, we know that NPF Abia Command , Headquartered at Bende Rd housing many of the Police Offices, made matters worse.
“They are security Bastards that careless about life and property”, a commentator fused.
RepublicReport Publisher Carlisle U.O. Umunnah, was in town, to bury his father who passed September 6th, 2010; dealing with death difficulties and challenges with respect to burial arrangements/logistics, etc, was extremely cumbersome for the family.

As events progressed on the said date, Third Floor Housed Abia Rubber Company, Ltd, at least Chidi Nwous’ office. Suddenly, Comrade Nwosu was heading-off for an official swearing-in ceremony of some commissioners, and wanted RR to accompany him. Curiously, ‘Mazi Nwosu appeared heavily intoxicated on something, or just highly-spirited of the new appointment or both”, eyewitness observer told RR.
RR decided to shave the trip, and promised to stop-by at another day. RR did however, drop-by another day, without appointment/notice, and it worked out well.
RR insisted on seeing anything that declared Comrade Nwosu’s appointment/paper, and/or General Manager’s identification card to convince RR of the validity of his claims. The appointment stuff to many was as disappointment, which, application was characterized by compromise, betrayal and treacherous for the movement. But that will be dissertation, for another time.
In the month of December, 2010k, Mr. Nwosu appeared visibly worried, sometimes looked confused, and seemed under heavy pressure from official responsibilities at his Bende, Rd, Office, while RR visited. He asked that we give him some minutes to tidy up some paper work,which we did.
In about 5 minutes, Mr. Nwosu hit the floor, got into his automobile and scrambled/rummaged, through pile of documents and, pulled-out official government business card with his name on it, which, confirmed his appointment that started with immediately effect.
“why didn’t you declare yourself at the Naija-INTERNET platforms or fora, with respect to your new appointment”, RR queried.
We pressed forward, we were curious how he would joggle Human Rights Justice and Peace Foundation [HRJPF] based in Aba, as its President, and at the same time, “working for the enemy. ”
Are you out of your mind”, we yelled at him.
But the truth is–the man has joined them.
He said, “TA”.
“Ochendo’, is a good man, he’s changed he is now Moses of Abia State”, he said.
“He has an open door policy”, he told RR.
RepublicReport learned, the man meant business, he was even asking other Nigerians in Diaspora to return to the country and, assist with the “restructuring” at the local, State and National level.
He said, “Come home and assist Abia State with restructuring…. let’s help him.”
“TA Orji and Orji Uzor Kalu, Eunice Orji Uzor Kalu are one and the same”, we fired back.
RR asked: “what about RepublicReport New York that you promised writing and working for”?.
Mr. Nwosu answered, “events have overtaken things, but I will work out things and still be writing for RR form time to time….”.
We thought it’s ruse. We didn’t recover from reality that late Chidi Nwosu grabbed appointment in one of the most discredited Gov. in the country, TA Orji. just a-month “restructuring”….then the assassins struck.
Late Chidi Nwosu was pretty generous to share whatever he had. Regardless, of shortcomings/pitfalls which is human, he will always give. Comrade Nwosu donated his personal 10,000.00 Naira toward the burial arrangements/logistics of RR’s publishers father, late Pa Ikechukwu Ishmael Akalazu Umunnah, who was buried December 4th, 2010.
At about 45 to 50 minutes we ended the conversation/meeting.
RepublicReport New York visited late Chidi Nwosu more than three times, again looking at issues and institutions and what is practicable and what is not, and what can be done.
“You are a Biafran separatists he playfully addressed some of us at his Bende Rd office, Umuahia.
The last days of Comrade Chidi Nwosu, presented him as tired, confused, sometimes invalid calm. You can tell something was not right.
On our third visit, we exchanged peasantries, drove into a restaurant, ate together not realizing that would be our final meet as earthly habitats. Trip was in company of his wife, Engr. Amaka Nwosu, and one of his staff from Abia Rubber Company, Ltd.
Soon he began to download some tough secrets:
“I almost got assassinated by my cousin”. This he told RR days, before his assassination at his home Town Abam-Aro-Chukwu.
“How come…. what happened?”, RR asked.
“How old was the young man…”, RR asked. “he was only 24, dropping out from one school to the other, and schools rejecting him”. Lets’ make a story out of this, which never happened because Mr. Nwosu was not comfortable making a story on it. Evidently, there was present and eminent danger in the horizon.
“One night he said he wanted to sleep with me “.
“At another time, he told me and others that he want to kill himself or kill somebody”.
“We were nervous”.
“We were worried, some people have told me to be very carefully with him”, Mr. Nwosu narrated his scary experiences to RepublicReport.
“Then what happened?”.
“Was he an hired assassin”, RR pressed on.
Late Mr. Chidi Nwosu narrated:
“His father’s house is there, his father is late, a brother to my late father, I don’t know why he wanted to sleep with me”, Late Nwosu revealed.
“We didn’t sleep at home that night”.
“We were shocked the following morning to hear that he committed suicide”.
“We later discovered my mom’s sharp-kitchen knife hidden in the flower in front of my house”.
“He planned to kill me that night, but, it’s was not meant to be”, late Chidi Nwosu, added.
He narrated many assassination escapes in his life.
On appointment to meet with the gov. and his staff, the new General Manager, at Abia State Rubber Company, Ltd, Comrade Chidi Nwosu, was struggling to print-out a Power-point Presentation material for a visit at the govt. house.
According to him, he booked for this appointment more than two weeks ago, and wanted to get the politically charged presentation done.
However, He and his Special Assistant was having hard time getting the Power-Point thing together. It’s already on his computer but couldn’t print from it.
Out of frustration, they drove to near-by interNet-Cafe, to see whether printing-the-material out was possible, and/or whether transfer of the Government House Presentation to another computer was possible. They left for govt. House anyway.
They were all wearing TA Orji’s Ochendo photo in front of the T-Shirt.RepublicReport New York never knew that this would the last time, we’ll meet this prolific writer, and comrade, Chidi Nwosu.
Markedly, we had our disagreements on technical issues, but, RepublicReport wished late comrade Nwosu best of luck in his “restructuring, restructuring” in TA administration.
RR also, used the opportunity to caution late Nwosu to trek carefully working for the enemy, knowing the kind of government that we have in Abia this past 11 years.
He had kind words for TA Orji. “He is a changed man he is like Moses of Egypt that led Israelis into the promised land”, he added.
Late Mazi Nwosu blamed all the problem of Abia State squarely on the corridor of the former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu and his mother Eunice Uzor Kalu.
“Orji Uzor Kalu is the real enemy of Abians, we will continue to make that differentiation and fight him to the end”, he said.
Administratively, late Comrade Chidi Nwosu had bitter complaints with respect to failing/collapsing Abia Rubber Company, Ltd.
He said, “Before I arrived at ARC, the the Company was in total locked-down”. He alleged employees weren’t coming to work because of back unpaid salaries”.
Adding, “we are taking care of that now, things are beginning to turn around”.
According to him, “some were owed up to 18 months salaries, while others were owed more than 2-years….back salaries”.
According to him, “some distributors and contractors paid up-front for some 50 tones of rubber but no rubber were supplied to them.
“Others they owed about 80 tones of rubber by Abia State Rubber Company, Ltd, in the last 2 years. The company/Abia State government were yet to meet these supplies obligations and are still withholding contractors monies”, he fumed. Obviously, there were policy clash, that demands re-prioritizing one’s priors.
He also narrated that “some were employed while they were already above 50-years, at Abia Rubber Company, Ltd, and have worked here for many years… others are more than 70-years at Abia Rubber Company Ltd, doing nothing, very unproductive but collecting salary monthly”.
“Some of these people I let go because of incompetency”.
‘They weren’t happy. They called committee-of-elders meeting for me, I appeared before them…. I hope, I was able to explain before these elders why they’re retired or fired”.
late Mr. Nwosu narrated to RR his challenges and difficulties working at Abia Rubber Company Ltd in the few days we met.
Credible source says, “some of the retired and/or fire employees at Abia Rubber Company, Ltd, had connections with top govt. officials, including TA Orji.Some of them weren’t happy leaving their jobs, etc.
Late Chidi Nwosu, told RR in Umuahia, that he felt he did the right thing by letting them go, following company’s hiring policy.
“For example if you are 50-years old you are above the hiring age according to the State Hiring Policy; and if you are 70-years old and above, you ought not to be working as a civil servant”, etc.
Apparently at the last days of late Comrade Chidi Nwosu with Abia state government., he possibly had made more enemies for himself, than friends.
Many political pundits and commentators have projected possible scenarios leading to his assassination; they include:
1]. that Late Chidi Nwosu had a one of the longest running battle with former gov. of Abia State, Orji Uzor Kalu; where he aggressively rallied against his administration, spoke-up against Orji Uzor Kalu and his mother Eunice Uzor Kalu at every opportunity he got;
2]. that he had long running battle with TA Orji before TA lured him into his government to silence him and he erroneously fell for it. Triggering some activist to see late Chidi Nwosu’s working for the enemy as the greatest error/blunder of his life. TA killing squad could have set him up and finally eliminated him;
3]. That he had one of the longest running litigation cases against politicians and political office holders was instituted by Chidi Nwosu. one of its kind in recent history that could have attracted him more enemies;
4]. That possibility abound that relatives at Abia Rubber Company, Ltd, who were fired or retired at Abia Rubber Company Ltd, Bende Rd, Umuahia took it personal, which, have triggered the honest nest and widened his enemy’s column;
5]. Late Chidi Nwosu could’ve been assassinated by say, PDP hired assassins at the national level to end his litigations “happiness”. Mr. Nwosu sued Jonathan, sued IGP, sued everything else; that could also line-up enemies for him;
6]. Possibility that TA Orji that lured him into sudden friendship is a politician, they don’t forget and they dont’ forgive”; so working for him is dangerous, if anything happens and they fall out of fate with Late comrade Nwosu over policy disagreement it put him in the danger column; Chidi could have threatened to resign, putting himself further away on the front-Line with only a month at Abia Rubber Company, Ltd, rubbishing him and making a mockery of him;
7]. Like RepublicReport New York reported, late Comrade Chidi Nwosu was “completely erratic, alcoholic and conflicted not knowing what to do” most of the time.
RepublicReport contacted some friends of late Comrade Chidi Nwosu or family somewhere in Brooklyn, New York, refused to comment to grant interview to RR, they were still visibly shocked at the assassination of Chidi Nwosu. They preferred to remain anonymous and refused to grant interview of any kind to RepublicReport New York.
Another anonymous friend of Comrade Chidi Nwosu at lives at anonymous Brooklyn property also inquired what Human Rights community in Nigeria was doing to find out the killers and bring them to justice. RR told this anonymous friend, that human rights community was equally shocked but was mobilizing, issuing statements, aggressively condemning the dastard killing of Mr. Nwosu and mobilizing to draw the attention or international community to killings, kidnapping cases and political disappearances in the so-called Nigeria.
RR left our contact information with this friend, hoping that he pass on to close friends of late Comrade Chidi Nwosu and more. RR also dropped its number to them and asked they return our call. They have returned our called, but left a message but hope to still get back to see if we RR can get an interview from these friends. RepublicReport is still investigating this dastard killing of a Comrade and Human Rights crusader in Nigeria, and will brief its readers as soon as we get more details.
Credible insider source told RepublicReport New York that late Chidi Nwosu “negotiated with his killers to spare his life, but they refused”, a family source who lives in Aba told our correspondence, but refused to give his name due to the sensitivity of this case.
Reports alleged the killers tired the wife, Engr. Amaka Nwosu and his 5-year old daughter away in a bathroom, while they tortured, and finally killed Mr. Nwosu.
A source added, “Imagine the horror the family have passed through hearing him die painfully and nobody to rescue him from this murderers”. “it’s horrendous”.
“He was brutally maimed by the team of assassins who later shot-him at point-blank in the temple”.
“This is a high powered political killers and nobody could have stopped them, because government was fingers/involvement was obvious”.
“They have been planning for for a long time to kill this young man”, this anonymous eyewitness remarked.
“There are still blood all over the wall, in his house at his home-Town, Abam Aro-Chukwu”, in Bende Local Government Area, [LGA] Umuahia, Abia State.
“Whoever killed Chidi Nwosu in this gruesome-manner will never find peace in this life and in the life to come”, lamented another commentator.
