“Crazy Country”:Presidency Orders Chevron To Provide Electricity To Delta Oil Communities–Reports
New York [RR] ABUJA–Republic Reporters just learned that the Presidency has ordered Chevron Nigeria limited to provide stable and sustainable electricity to Escravos Tank Farm to oil-rich Ugborodo and Gbaramatu communities as part of its obligations to empower and better host communities, not the so-called country as a whole, what a country.
But commentators think that Nigeria is a chaotic, crazy country where nothing works, not even with billions of dollars coming-in daily from petro-dollars drilled from Niger Basin Areas.

According to Abiamone: “It is high time the oil producing companies fulfilled their social responsibility to their host countries. Not long ago Obama imposed a hefty bill of over £20billion on British Petroleum company for causing environmental disaster.
Shell has been with us since 1958 and its annual profit is more than Federal Government’s budget. Europe uses gas to cook in every home but Shell prefers to flare oil and no body seems to care.
He added: “The oil companies have the technical know-how to construct good roads, provide hospitals, ensure constant power supply to their host community. These are basic obligation.
Those who have been to Shell headquarters in Port Harcourt will be shocked to learn that the source of their electricity, which is not as epileptic as Nigeria’s NEPA, is Rolls-Royce powered generator! When will Nigeria grow up?
Victor Eboh: “what are you waiting for to chase them away, our leaders are looking for people that will do for them what they are suppose to for there citizens, i left Delta state December 2006 came back september 2011 to my ultimate surprise the delta state i met was twenty times worst than the delta state i left so my question to you is what did governor Udughan pledge to do during his campaign if elected as governor?
De_wale: “Corporates social responsibility is an ethics issue and not force or command. I stand to be corrected, Chevron must have been buying the political silence of the community leadership all these years.
My people let us hold our leaders to always account..”, he said.
Comrade Cliff: “That is Chevron for you. The same suffering we are facing in my area, even the worst has come to its peak with the fire explosion in chevron’s facility in my communities, Koluama 1, Tamazo, Beinghentoru, Kalaweiama, Opuama, Ugbogbene, Koluama 2, Olobia etc in Koluama clan of Southern Ijaw LGA. Using chemical dispersants to sink the exposed toxic substances on floating on the water surface further endangered the ecosystem. Pls, government help.
NigerDeltaWatch said it is a step in the right direction. “A step in the right direction…we look forward to extending the Power Network to Egbema Ijaw Communities as Chevron do not have any Power project in this Area, though they are the biggest producer of Oil and Gas for Chevron, Shell, and now Con Oil, as Sahara Energy is not ready to contribute to their development.”
Vincent Mudebelu: “hmmmm..those ojota rascals cannot read the new sofware..!!
wetin man go do ………chase them out of the parks. Even those people with HUGE plants in their backyards MUST share excess electricity with the community as a way to pay for air and noise pollution.
“We are moving forward in deed.
