New York [RR] AWKA–The Biafra Zionist Movement has accused the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra of misleading Igbo in the struggle for the actualisation of the Biafra Republic.
The leader of the group, Mr. Benjamin Onwuka, said in Awka on Wednesday that MASSOB had been cashing in on the ignorance of the people to make money for their leaders.
“He (MASSOB leader, Ralph Uwazuruike) himself knows that he is not going about the struggle in the right way that will lead to the actualisation of the new republic,” Onwuka said.
But the Director of Information of MASSOB, Mr. Uchenna Madu, dismissed the BZM’s claims, accussing the group of being sponsored by government to cause confusion among Igbo.
According to him, MASSOB is the only organisation working for the actualisation of a sovereign state of Biafra.

However, Onwuka said Uwazuruike was probably not aware that Nigeria being an oil producing country could not break up without the support of world powers.
He added, “We must get the support of the United States of America to be able to undermine the United Kingdom who does not want us to be free. And as I talk to you now, the process is in place. There is no way you can split an oil producing nation without the knowledge of the USA, this is a country that buys more oil from Nigeria than we consume.”
Onwuka, who used to be based in the United Kingdom, said he was disappointed that MASSOB had kept the international community away from what Igbo were doing to secede from Nigeria.
He said, “Throughout my stay in the UK, I watched with keenness Nigeria affairs, but you would see the OPC or the Niger Delta militants on CNN, Aljazeera and BBC than you see Biafra activities. Even Boko Haram is widely reported now, even though they are a terrorist group.
“We cannot divide this country without being in the foreign media and making the USA see reasons why they should support our secession bid, because we must attract powerful nations that can stand up to Britain who are Biafra’s major problem.”
But Uchenna said, “MASSOB represents the most genuine interest of Ndigbo.
“Uwazuruike has paid a lot sacrifice for the sake of Ndigbo. He has no match. Agitations are not done on pages of newspapers. Ndigbo should ignore Onwuka and his faceless group, which he’s using for cheap popularity.”
